I hadn’t planned on another SLR, but when someone from the photo community offered their Olympus OM-2 with a few lenses for free - and no one else seemed interested - I couldn’t resist. What drew me in was the range of focal lengths. While I only had a 50 mm lens for my Nikon, the Olympus came with 21 mm, 50 mm, and 85 mm lenses. Both 21 mm and 85 mm feel quite unfamiliar to me, with 21 mm being especially challenging.
Compared to the Nikon FE2, the Olympus OM-2 is just as beautiful, a bit smaller, and perhaps even a little more elegant. Still, I prefer my Nikon and use it far more often - maybe simply out of habit.
A day trip to Cologne was a good opportunity to try the 21 mm lens.
With that roll of film, I had a small disaster while rewinding. For some reason, I turned the rewind knob in the wrong direction until I realised what I was doing, causing quite a bit of damage to the negatives inside the camera. Stupid things happen - and some images even turned out undamaged.
Another opportunity to use the 21 mm on a misty morning in Düsseldorf.
Frosty mornings in early 2025.
