I’m old enough to remember taking photos as a kid with a simple point-and-shoot film camera. When digital photography came along, I switched to a compact digital camera and didn’t think about film again for a long time.
Thanks to a monthly theme in a small photo community, I was nudged into trying analog photography again. That was in November 2022. I got a very simple, but lovely camera from another member of that community: a Ricoh ff-1. No autofocus, no control over the aperture - you have to guess the distance to your subject, and that’s it.
Of course, having to guess distances makes shooting landscapes especially rewarding.
There was only a light dusting of snow on the frozen lake, but the fog made it look so special and atmospheric.
A visit to my former university in Bochum. Where I expected to see my institute’s building, I found nothing but an excavation pit.
I drove to the office in Düsseldorf just to enjoy the snow and take photos before work. By contrast, there was no snow at all where I live.
